Circulation Policy
GENERAL
CIRCULATION
RULES
-
A patron must register as a member before he / she can obtain the loan services provided by the
library.
-
Patron should have their own unique PIN number when register
as members and the pin number may be changed.
-
Borrowers are to produce their ID when borrowing any library
materials.
-
Library materials borrowed must be returned on

before the due date.
-
All library books loaned to students must be returned at
once if recalled by the librarian.
LOSS AND DAMAGED
-
Users are being held responsible for materials out on loan.
If the material is lost, library staffs are to be informed
immediately and the borrower could either:
-
Purchased the lost book
plus the outstanding fines.
Books replaced must be the latest edition
-
Pay price of the book
lost plus RM10.00 for the
processing fees. However, if the cost of the
books could not be obtained, the librarian reserves the
right to determine the estimated price of the book.
-
No cancellation of the replacement charge is allowed if the
user finds the lost item after having paid for the
replacement cost.
-
Users are responsible for any mutilation
/
disfigurement
/
defect that occur to library books on loan to them and shall
require paying the replacement cost. Any mutilation
/
disfigurement
/
defect on library books should be reported to library staff
before users borrow them. The penalty for returning books
which are not in good condition
is RM5.00.
FINES
-
Fines
imposed on borrower for late return
of books is as follows:
-
RM0.50 per day for open shelf collection
-
RM0.50 per day for red spot collection.
-
Amount of fines will be calculated based on the UNISEL
library opening hours.
OVERDUE
-
Users are not allowed to borrow more books and this
suspension of borrowing privileges will remain until the
overdue item is returned
/
renewed
/
paid for.
-
Action that will be taken, if the users fail to returned any
overdue book:
-
A reminder will be pasted on the library notice board.
-
A reminder letter will be sent
-
Examination slip will be suspended
-
Result slip will be suspended
-
Degree and diploma will be suspended
RENEWAL / RESERVATION
-
Renewal is possible if other users do not reserve the item
but it can only be renewed once.
-
Library users can reserve books that are on loan to another
user. Library users may place requests on library materials
that are in use, in person or through the online catalogue.
Library staff will make phone call to that student as a
reminder to collect the reserved item.
The item will be kept on hold for seven (7) days after
which it will be given to the next person on list or back to
the shelf.
